Recording and Composition
"Boston Chicken" was written in 1995, during sessions for 12 Golden Country Greats. It was considered for the album, appearing on an early tracklist with the note "not so sure".[1] It was aired on Weenradio.com as part of the July 25, 2001 Weenradio.com broadcast, though is one of three songs lost from the broadcast.
According to a recollection of this broadcast on alt.music.ween, the song was about "going to Boston Chicken," a restaurant chain.[2]
Mickey acknowledged the track once in a private exchange with a Facebook friend, his quote goes as follows:
"This was the 13th Golden Country Great. I dunno why we left this out."
Lyrics
The following lyrics may be incomplete.
I made a mess in the kitchen, the ashtray's all full
There’s mud on the carpet and a turd in the bowl
Me and my buddies got wasted last night
Watching a tape of a Holyfield fight
We got the dog high and he puked on the stairs
Couldn’t find a rag so we just left it there
Song Themes
Alcohol/Drugs, Food and Drink, Poop
