Browntracker
Browntracker was a prominent Ween torrent tracking fan website dedicated to circulating live performances and outtakes.
The first version of the site was established on November 30th, 2004,[1] and by 2008 the site had over 18,000 registered users.[2] Throughout its lifetime, Browntracker reportedly only banned two non-commercial releases (those being Synthetic Socks and The Long Beach Island Tape).[citation needed]
In late December 2020, Browntracker went offline without further announcement.[3] The website had over 600 torrents and over 40 thousand registered users by the time of its closure.[4] Four months later, it reappeared with an announcement confirming its discontinuation, with the site owners announcing a new project was in the works for release later that year.[citation needed]
In April 2024, Browntracker developers Phil Coggins and Justin Hart launched ween.live, an interactive index of live Ween recordings hosted on archive.org. The website launch was announced on Reddit with the following statement from the developers:
Ween.live (ween dot live) is a free web project developed by Phil Coggins, and Justin Hart, of Browntracker, dedicated to celebrating the live recordings of Ween. With an intuitive interface, integrated audio player, and 24/7 streaming radio, Ween.live invites fans to rediscover the magic of Ween's live performances on our platform.
At its core, Ween.live pays homage to the unsung heroes of the Ween community — the dedicated souls who have tirelessly recorded, documented, mixed, and shared Ween's live concerts over the years. Every venue, date, and song from the Ween Internet Archive collection is presented on the platform, so you can listen to the live versions of your favorite songs, relive your favorite shows, or finally experience the ones you missed.
Ween.live is committed to accessibility and inclusivity, offering its full suite of features at absolutely no cost. The platform remains entirely ad-free, ensuring an uninterrupted, immersive listening experience for fans old and new.[5]
