Recording and Composition[edit | edit source]

"Mocha" was originally recorded during The Pod sessions, and appeared on the Bilboa demo tape. A later version was recorded during Pure Guava sessions.

Dean Ween talked about the song in a December 1990 interview:[1]

Mocha ties into the whole... fudge chocolate brownie theory that Ween believes in. It basically means that the chocolatey smell of fudgy stuff, like the show last night. When things are going really bad, mocha alerts people that sometimes the situation can get kind of fudgy.

Live performances[edit | edit source]

"Mocha" is known to have been played live at least twice, in 1990 and 1991.[2] However, information from this time period is incomplete.

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

If you need to gain a sense of the size of your mind
Don't be afraid to play with Mr. Mocha
You need a little lovin', she won't give you the time
You need to spend some time with Mr. Mocha
You want to get down, but she wanna fuck around
She's a two-bit, slut whore smoker
Reveal the key, and we will take you by the hand
And you tell me now, who is the joker?

Mr. Mocha!
Mocha
Mocha

You're in need of some affection
And she's all strung-out
Like the junkie-ass bitch she be
You lookin' for the guava, she got nothin' to give
No junkie-ass bitch for me

Mr. Mocha!
Mocha
Mocha
Two-bit, slut whore smoker[3]
