| Fender Stratocaster | Gene/Dean | 1984-2024 | The first guitar in the ween oeuvre, the Fender Stratocaster is most commonly played by Deaner on lead. A Japenese produced Squier was his first. Over the years "hundreds" of strats have been bought and sold by Dean; with the most notable being his heavily modded 61' Dakota Red Stratocaster[1]. Other notable versions of the guitar used by Dean include a similarly spec'd sunburst 61' strat stolen from Deaner in late 2016[2], his George Harrison "Rocky" Replica seen on Live In Chicago's DVD, and the Black 90's Made In Mexico strat debuted in the most recent tour.[3]
Gener has used the guitar periodically throughout Weens touring career, throughout The Mollusk tour he sported a blue copy Stratocaster. Most notably used in the public access performances of Buckingham Green and The Final Alarm[4] |
| Fender Musicmaster/Duosonic | Dean/Gene | 1989-2006 | Dean ween used a modified 59' Fender Musicmaster heavily throughout the early 90's / reportedly using it to record all of GodWeenSatan´s guitar tracks[5]. Various modified Music-masters served as Dean's primary instruments in the ensuring tours, with the guitars being all but retired following the Chocolate & Cheese Tour.
