"Ask the Dragon" is a song by Yoko Ono and Ima, released on Ono's 1995 album Rising. Ween remixed the song for the remix EP Rising Mixes in 1995.

Song Details[edit | edit source]

Ween were contacted by Yoko Ono's son Sean Lennon to remix a track from Ono's album Rising, as Lennon was a huge fan of the band.[1] Ween, along with Greg Frey and Andrew Weiss, remixed the song "Ask the Dragon" with mostly new instrumentation and additional vocals from Gene Ween. It was released on Rising Mixes in 1995, and the Japanese release of Rising as a bonus track.

Ween performed with Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon in concert, on 02/29/1996 at the 9:30 Club.[2][3] Andrew Weiss would also fill-in as the bass player for Ima during a show at the Paradise in February 1996[4] and their summer 1996 tour of Japan.[5][6]

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

(I am the stallion, I am the stallion, I am the stallion)
(Who's yo' papa? Papa Zit)
(I am the stallion, I am the stallion, I am the stallion, I am the stallion)

Ask the dragon why she's crawling with eight legs
And she says, "donno, I'm just doing it"

Ask a giraffe why he's keeping his neck straight
And he says, "donno, I'm just doing it"

Ask a bird why he's flying so high
And he says, "donno, I'm just doing it"

Ask a girl why she's dancing in the wind
And this is what she says

Ask an elephant why he's raising his trunk
And he says, "donno, I'm just doing it"

Ask a tiger why he's running so fast
And he says, "donno, I'm just doing it"

Ask a monkey why he's swinging from a tree
And he says, "donno, I'm just doing it

Ask a guy why he's dancing in the sun
And this is what he says

Ask an elephant why he's raising his trunk
And he says, "donno, I'm just doing it"

Ask a tiger why he's running so fast
And he says, "donno, I'm just doing it"

Ask a monkey why he's swinging from a tree
And he says, "donno, I'm just doing it

Ask a guy why he's dancing in the sun
And this is what he says[7]
