"Transitions" is a song by Ween. Originally a Mollusk outtake, it was later released in a slightly altered form on the 2005 odds-and-ends compilation Shinola, Vol. 1.

Song Details[edit | edit source]

Recording and Composition[edit | edit source]

"Transitions" was recorded during sessions for The Mollusk in 1996 and 1997. Though not used for the album, a rough mix from the sessions surfaced on the internet around 1999, though it's unknown how.[1] In 2005, a remixed version was finally officially released on the odds-and-ends compilation Shinola, Vol. 1.

The lead vocals are sung by Gene Ween.

Live Performances[edit | edit source]

"Transitions" is not known to have been played live before Ween's 2012 hiatus. Following the band's reforming in 2016, the song has enjoyed a somewhat regular live rotation.[2] In addition, Gene Ween played the song regularly in the fall of 2014 with his solo band Freeman.[2]

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

Got aesthetic universal saturation in the grip of the morning sun
The creosote that erodes all the odors that lie dormant when the day is done
Hop the dingle on the ferry, takes you back to the dimension that's just begun
Riding the crest of the communion to a union, Harry Truman is the Holy Son
And he says

Got aesthetic universal saturation in the grip of the morning sun
The creosote that erodes all the odors that lie dormant when the day is done
Hop the dingle on the ferry, takes you back to the dimension that's just begun
Riding the crest of the communion to a union, Harry Truman is the Holy Son
And he says

Got aesthetic universal saturation in the grip of the morning sun
The creosote that erodes all the odors that lie dormant when the day is done
Hop the dingle on the ferry, takes you back to the dimension that's just begun
Riding the crest of the communion it's a union, Harry Truman is the Holy Son
And he says[3]
