"Junkie Boy" is a song by Ween, officially released on the deluxe edition of Chocolate and Cheese in 2024.

Song Details

"Junkie Boy" first circulated amongst fans as part of the bootleg Pandy Fackler tape. A remastered version of the song was uploaded to streaming services on June 7, 2024 to promote the deluxe edition of Chocolate and Cheese.[1]

Recording and Composition

"Junkie Boy" is in the key of A major, though live performances seem to transpose the song up to a slightly sharper variant of B major (this cannot be verified due to the poor quality of the circulating performance recordings).

The song was recorded around 1993 during the creative process for Chocolate and Cheese, and appears in the track listing of the Creme de Menthe demo tape (dated August 5, 1993) under the title "Junky Boy" (sic).

Live Performances

Ween played "Junkie Boy" live twice in the fall of 1993, near the end of the DAT-deck era. It has not been played live since.[2]

Lyrics

Leaping Libra from a cactus cat flower
Squealing creatures know his name
Making moves on the top of the hour
You'd think the boy's insane
Yes, you'd think the boy's insane

Junkie boy's gone pushed to the max
A docile monkey in uniform slacks
Call the heavens from a crystal chateau
That's when I let the junkie boy know
That he's gone too far
Yes, he's gone too far

Shouting words from a pale-lipped mouth
Even Linda cried for him
Babbling synonyms from the book of Faust
Save him, save him, save him!
Save him

Junkie boy's gone pushed to the max
A docile monkey in uniform slacks
Call the heavens from a crystal chateau
That's when I let the junkie boy know
That he's gone too far
He's gone too far, yes

Junkie boy's gone pushed to the max
A docile monkey in uniform slacks
Call the heavens from a crystal chateau
That's when I let the junkie boy know
That he's gone too far
Yes he has, he's gone too far

I can't stand it!
I can't stand it![3]
